In the summer months Pittenweem is one of Fife’s most picturesque and photogenic villages with its traditional white washed cottages and their red pantiled roofs. On a sunny day the waterfront is genuinely dazzling. In the winter months it takes on a much more dramatic but no less impressive persona. There can be little more bracing than a walk along the harbour wall in Pittenweem in a strong easterly wind looking out over an angry sea. What better time to take shelter and warmth in one of the village’s many bars or restaurants.

Pittenweem is now the most active of the fishing ports in the East Neuk of Fife. Fishing boats jostle for position in its busy harbour and this is a lively vibrant place at any time of day. To add to the atmosphere, visitors can watch the fish market conducted in the sheds on the harbour from 8.00am each morning.  Pittenweem has a wealth of pubs, excellent award-winning restaurants all within a 2 mile radius.  There is also the famous Pittenweem Art Festival which takes place over 2 week period at the start of August.

Pittenweem is also an excellent base for exploring as it is close to Elie, St Andrews, Crail, Anstruther and many other little villages and it’s an hour away from Edinburgh just over the Forth Road Bridge.
